Angel, the owner and operator of the original Queen of Hearts Tattoo Studio, received her first tattoo at the age of 14. After several more tattoos, she became frustrated with tattoo artists that did not produce the art work she had requested. Considering that she would at least listen to the client, she began her apprenticeship in Indianapolis, almost 30 years ago at Don's Derma Graphics, trading a Harley for the privilege of learning the art of tattooing.
After her apprenticeship, she moved to Kentucky. This was a time when old school rules of apprenticeship were strictly enforced, meaning you had to learn the art form then move to a high traffic studio to learn speed and consistency. In 1991 she attended her first tattoo convention and was inspired and anxious to become involved in the new world of tattoo competition.
While in the process of opening her first Queen of Hearts Studio in Kentucky in 1991, she was tattooing in Sturgis, South Dakota under the wings of Crazy Ace, for the Annual Bike Rally. There, her work gained the interest of Tattoo Magazine's Billy Tinney. This was just the break she needed to launch her brand new studio into the spotlight. This success only acted as a catalyst to drive her and the artists in her studio to deliver award winning quality to every customer.
In 1993 she brought her talents and studio to Nashville, Tennessee. The studio is now known, as Nashville's Oldest Tattoo Studio. Queen of Hearts is proud to serve Nashville's Music Industry, professional sports figures and many of Nashville tattooed natives. Body piercing and cosmetic tattoos became popular in the 1990's. Angel trained with Mad Jack from Chicago, IL to learn the basics of professional body piercing. Angel's Permanent Cosmetics career began not as a desire, but only to correct problems with already tattooed make-up.
After seeing serious damage to skin and application issues, she began to repair permanent make-up by applying her tattoo experience and skills. She became known for specializing in being able to repair many cosmetic problems from poor quality to fading. She then began applying permanent make up including eyebrows, eyeliner, beauty marks, lip color, scar work and more. When professional quality training and associations became available, Angel sought and obtained many certifications available by various organizations including: The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals, The American Academy of MicroPigmentation, Face & Body Professionals, Inc., the American Institute of Permanent Color Technology, and BioTouch International Inc. Well regarded in her craft, she has been a guest speaker at an International Cosmetic Professionals Convention.
